Tortel & Gropel — for us, the perfect pairing.
It’s the food and wine expression of our region, captured in a traditional mountain dish: the Tortel di patate (crispy potato fritter) served with a rare, special red wine called Groppello.
Tortel & Gropel is our celebration dish, a tribute to local tradition that we’ve long been working to promote. It has become a social media project, with ambassadors taking it around Italy every year. It has become a “snack dish” offered by local restaurants in February, after a good mountain hike. And it has become a beloved autumn tradition here at LasteRosse, a joyful San Martino festival filled with the scent of new wine.
at the winery
In rural tradition, San Martino marks the end of the farming year—and it’s a time for everyone to celebrate.
In small wineries, a red ribbon is tied to the door to signal the end of harvest, and the first wine is tapped from the barrels.
Join us on the second weekend of November to taste the new wine, perfectly paired with the traditional Tortel di patate, or simply stop by for an aperitivo with a selection of our mountain wines and sparkling wines.

Every year, 5 special Ambassadors share the story of the union between the Potato Tortel and the Groppello wine.
Tortel & Gropel has become an annual event where 5 different individuals are invited to shed new light on this union of flavors through their creativity. A new format, on the Instagram social channel, made of collaboration and sharing. The idea is to find new interpretations of the dish and, as if it were a rule, pair it with its territorial red wine, Groppello.
A story of union, the Potato Tortel and Groppello wine, rooted in past years and peasant traditions. A story almost forgotten, that of the Potato Tortel, one of the oldest foods in Trentino, and a wine, Groppello, which has remained a rare grape variety in its land. A project that speaks of encounters and union, with the idea of communicating it precisely in February, the month dedicated to love in all its forms.
“There can be no Tortel without Gropel”
Every year, 5 Ambassadors are sought. Five ambassadors of taste who, with creativity and personality, bring innovation to the dish while paying special attention to its wine pairing. The explicit request is to unite these two products from the same territory in flavor, like a marriage, and to create, create, and create even more.
It’s a project open to everyone—whether you’re a photographer, chef, lover of vegetarian cuisine, wine enthusiast, tradition aficionado, artist, professor, singer, couple, blogger… we believe everyone has a unique mark to leave.
Those interested in applying and contributing can write to info@lasterosse.it by December 31st of each year.
