An ancient story made of generations of farmers and deep roots in the Val di Non. A family devoted to working the land with pride and passion.
The more recent story begins with a house in the meadows, a small stable, a few fruit trees, potatoes, rye, and a Groppello vineyard to produce wine for the family. Over the years came the first tractor, and the cultivation of pears and apples.
The old vineyard of the great-grandfather was passed down to Candida, the mother, and then to Pietro. And so, in 2000, the strong desire to return to vine growing and winemaking took shape. LasteRosse was born — a project, a name, and a brand. The name Laste Rosse means “red rocks,” like the characteristic stones of the Romallo area, where we planted our first new vineyard.
Today, we are still a small farm practicing sustainable agriculture, and a family that shares the story of its work. We are still passionate.
Mountain Territory
A land made of rock, steep slopes, and dramatic heights overlooking Lake Santa Giustina. All around, stretches of apple orchards and forests unfold, with breathtaking views reaching far into the distance.
It is a harsh rural landscape, where in small vineyards, herbs and flowers grow freely.
The climate is alpine, with warm sunshine during the day and cool air at night. The wind visits us every day, the air smells fresh and clean, and there is an abundance of light.
Heroic Viticulture and Generations of Apples
We chose to stay and practice heroic mountain viticulture. We manually cultivate just one hectare of vineyard.
It’s a difficult, demanding craft. All the plots are small, located above 700 meters in elevation, with steep slopes. The vines have their roots clinging to the rock, growing with the wind and the sun, and the grape yield is very low. These are resilient vines that give life to surprising, unique wines—wines with powerful aromas and a strong sense of place. Precious and rare wines.
On our farm, we also grow apples—mountain apples. Real apples that smell like apples. They are handpicked, one by one. We grow ancient varieties like Renetta, well-known ones like Golden and Fusj, and even newly patented varieties that reflect innovation and sustainability.
A Welcome That Feels Like Home
Where there once was a stable and a hayloft, we built our home. A house in a small mountain village, where spaces are modest and shared, surrounded by countryside and close to the woods.
We built a home with a workshop and a cellar, a garden, a woodshed, and a vegetable patch.
We made room for people, embracing the art of hospitality by creating a tasting room for our guests and offering truly special visits and activities.
Our way of welcoming has the scent of home—of beautiful, wholesome things.
To us, simplicity is beauty.
Family means feeling good together.
Rural life is healthy and unhurried.
A Tiny, Tiny Cellar
Our magical place, where the wonderful transformation from grape to wine takes place. A climate-controlled environment, constantly evolving with new technologies. Here, we work with professionalism, ongoing training, and a spirit of experimentation.
It’s a truly tiny cellar—a quiet corner where you can pause and listen to the wine as it breathes, rests, and matures inside small wooden barrels.
Every single bottle is carefully tended to, patiently awaited. Some are even hand-packaged.
